Job summary

Nicklaus Children’s Health System is seeking a Data Scientist to leverage advanced analytics, ML, and statistical methods on healthcare and operational data. You will collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and IT teams to develop predictive models and scalable data pipelines, ensuring HIPAA compliance and ethical handling of health information.

The role requires 3–5 years in data science within healthcare, proficiency in Python/R/SQL, and experience with EHR or clinical data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in data science/quantitative field is required.
• 3–5 years of experience in data science, healthcare or life sciences environment.
• Experience with healthcare data (EHR, clinical databases, ERP) desired.
• Proven track record applying statistical analysis and ML to real-world healthcare problems.

Responsibilities

• Apply ML, NLP, and AI to analyze structured and unstructured healthcare data.
• Develop predictive models integrating multi-omics data and clinical outcomes.
• Build scalable data pipelines and connect healthcare data using graph databases to uncover relationships.
• Collaborate with data engineering/IT to operationalize models for real-time decision support.
• Develop and validate predictive models for clinical decision support and risk stratification.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FDA guidelines, and clinical research requirements.
• Partner with clinicians/researchers to translate needs into technical solutions.
• Maintain documentation and ensure reproducibility of findings.
• Provide technical expertise and training on healthcare analytics best practices.
