Job summary

OptumCare, part of UnitedHealth Group, seeks a senior data analytics professional to advance health policy initiatives across Medicare and Medicaid. You will perform quantitative analyses, design payment calculations, and mentor team members to deliver client-ready insights.

Remote work is available from anywhere in the U.S., with an in-office four-day-per-week requirement in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area if applicable to the role, and standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

• 8+ years using SQL, Python, R or SAS in a research, consulting, or business environment.
• 6+ years working on federal health policy issues including Medicare/Medicaid value-based payment.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims data and enrollment data.
• Experience advising clients and managing personnel.
• Knowledge of healthcare data concepts and data structures.
• Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks environments.
• Experience incorporating AI into technical workflows.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey analyses to clients.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform quantitative analysis to inform Medicare/Medicaid payment models.
• Develop strategic client relationships and communicate findings clearly.
• Design payment calculations, run financial/quality analyses, and do ad-hoc analyses.
• Query large healthcare claims databases and apply analytics methods.
• Mentor staff and document data processing and analytical steps.
• Write code with quality control and maintain accuracy.
• Collaborate in a project team and oversee AI adoption in technical activities.
