Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director, Data Analytics to drive quantitative analyses supporting Medicare/Medicaid payment models and policy research. You'll query large healthcare data, build models, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

The role requires leadership in analytics, strong communication, and experience applying AI to health data. Remote work is supported nationwide with in-office time in the Minneapolis or DC area as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience using SQL, Python, R or SAS in a research, consulting, or business environment.
• 6+ years of experience with federal health policy issues, including Medicare/Medicaid value-based payment.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims data and enrollment data.
• Experience advising clients and managing personnel.
• Experience with Snowflake/Databricks environments.
• Experience incorporating AI into technical workflows.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform quantitative analysis to inform Medicare/Medicaid payment models.
• Develop relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Design calculations, conduct financial and trend analyses, and run ad-hoc analyses.
• Query large healthcare claims databases and eligibility data.
• Apply ML, econometrics, predictive modeling, ROI analysis, and data visualization.
• Mentor staff and document data processing steps.
• Write robust code and ensure quality control in projects.
• Collaborate with project teams and adopt AI into activities.
