The Line Cook will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. The role involves producing small to large batch goods using classical cooking techniques.

Responsible for preparing food for residents in a Senior Living / Healthcare environment, following standardized recipes to ensure proper quantities and high quality. Maintain sanitation standards in accordance with organizational, federal, state, and local regulations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Food Preparation

• Prepare mechanically altered foods for special diets.
• Serve food on tray lines following tray cards and diet orders.
• Cook foods requiring short to mid-level preparation time, following recipes and instructions.
• Ensure food quality and safety standards are met, including temperature controls and sanitation.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist in inventory management and supply requisition.

Cleaning, Storage, and Sanitation

• Clean and sanitize workstations and equipment.
• Assist with setup and cleanup of food service areas.
• Properly label and store food items.

Safety and Risk Management

• Follow safety policies and participate in safety training.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma required.
• Current Food Handler’s Permit required; Servsafe training and sanitation certification preferred.
• 3-4 years of related food service and cooking experience desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Extensive knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Ability to read and follow recipes and safety instructions.
• Proficiency with basic computer functions.
• Dependability, organization, patience, and compassion for residents.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Compensation Pay Range:

$20.50 - $22.50
