The Position

The Opportunity

The Program Operations Compliance Manager will play a critical role on the HCO team at Genentech. This role is responsible for compliance review, decision-making, and limited approvals for funding operations (e.g., grants, exhibits, sponsorships, corporate memberships), Advisory Boards, and other areas of business operations as assigned, and ensuring full adherence to and oversight of applicable Genentech processes and guidelines. The role requires an individual with strong subject matter expertise on internal Genentech policies and state and federal laws specific to interactions with healthcare professionals, as well as an in-depth understanding of Genentech’s requirements, processes, and procedures.

  • Serve as a business owner for Funding Operations and/or Advisory Board Operations systems; navigate within the system and compliance review of funding requests may be up to 80% of the role.

  • Review, appropriately characterize, make decisions on, and process funding requests based on relevant Genentech processes, guidelines, and SOPs.

  • Ensure understanding of and consistency with and adherence to Genentech standards, laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

  • Act as a lead for operational governance, providing ongoing guidance to internal stakeholders.

  • Working with the end-user in mind (i.e. patient, key stakeholder, or other party), seek to improve the way things get done by making efficient and resource-conscious decisions that make processes simpler and more effective.

Who You Are

  • You hold a Bachelor's Degree (life sciences, law, public policy, marketing, business, education, finance/accounting or related discipline preferred) and have 3 or more years of work experience gained in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, management consulting, or other regulated industry.

  • You hold a Healthcare Compliance Certification (before or w/in 6 months of appointment).

  • You have impeccable ethics and demonstrate, or have proven abilities to demonstrate, Roche Values and Leadership Commitments.

  • You are adept at synthesizing and summarizing complex and/or voluminous content into clear, concise and actionable communications.

  • You are effective in identifying, developing and implementing scalable/sustainable process and other improvements to achieve organizational efficiencies and increase effectiveness.

  • You apply creative problem-solving and develop appropriate business solutions to effectively address compliance risk.

  • You have excellent project management skills and exercise good judgment in identifying and leveraging appropriate resources.

  • You have demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the bio/pharma industry (compliance, legal, clinical affairs, and product marketing) and the legal and regulatory environment, as it relates to healthcare compliance.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with funding related preventative and detective controls in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Experience serving as an advisor on key operational practices, processes, or procedures.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco is between $107,900 and $200,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
