Job summary

Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE is seeking a Professional Coding Associate to review and verify professional charges, ensuring accurate diagnosis and procedure coding for reimbursement. You will work with encoder software and coding edits to maintain clean claims and educate providers as needed.

The role requires coding credentials (CCS/CPC/CPC-A/CIC or RHIA/RHIT) and strong analytical and communication skills, with on-site work in the hospital’s Revenue Cycle setting.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Accredited coding certificate program with CCS/CPC/CPC-A/CIC or AHIMA HIM program with RHIA/RHIT credentials.
• Demonstrate analytical abilities to identify coding opportunities and data interpretation.
• Knowledge of coding guidelines and ability to apply them in practice.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation for professional charges involving ancillary, E/M and/or bedside/clinical procedures.
• Review accuracy of diagnosis and procedure codes within charge review and coding edits.
• Utilize encoder and/or computer aided coding software to analyze coding and edits.
• Complete work queues in electronic health record to resolve CCI, OCE, LCD and NCD edits.
• Communicate with ambulatory areas to facilitate provider education and revenue integrity.
