Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Omaha seeks a leader to oversee all medical coding and billing operations within our facility. You will manage a team of coders, ensure ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS compliance, and align with revenue cycle processes.

This role emphasizes training, audits, staying current with coding changes, and collaborating with finance and compliance to optimize reimbursement and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field, or equivalent combination.
• 5+ years in medical coding with at least 2 years in leadership roles.
• CCS or CPC certification required; CRC required; CPMA preferred.
• Proficient with coding software and EHR systems.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II; HIPAA/CMS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain coding policies and procedures per industry standards and regulations.
• Oversee a team of medical coders; provide guidance, performance feedback, and training.
• Maintain high coding accuracy and ensure compliance; conduct audits and corrective actions.
• Stay informed of coding changes and industry regulations; participate in workshops.
• Collaborate with revenue cycle, compliance, and clinical documentation improvement teams.
• Provide ongoing education to staff on coding guidelines and practices.
• Oversight of MPC billing in collaboration with revenue cycle, finance and billing; monitor denials.
• Oversee staff and analytics related to physician compensation; monitor wRVU changes.
