Job summary

LCMC Health is seeking a Collector to support our healthcare financial team. In this role you will research billing issues and contact patients to resolve payments, while helping them understand and manage medical bills.

The goal is compassionate, clear communication that reduces barriers to timely reimbursement. You will collaborate with patients, insurers, and providers, identify underpayments and denials, review EOBs, and document all activity in patient accounts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or healthcare experience preferred.
• Ability to discuss bills and payment options with patients empathetically.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Research billing issues and follow up on daily accounts for timely resolution.
• Identify underpayments, analyze denials, and process appeals as needed.
• Review posted payments and adjustments for accuracy.
• Analyze EOBs to ensure proper reimbursement and documentation.
• Document activity on patient accounts and communicate with payers.
• Collaborate with internal departments and external organizations to resolve reimbursements.
• Monitor trends in underpayments/denials and report findings.
• Adhere to HIPAA and other regulations; maintain ethical behavior.
