Job summary

TEKsystems in Waterloo, IA is seeking a contract Billing and Claims Specialist to verify billing accuracy, follow up with insurers, and resolve denied claims. You will prepare documentation to maximize reimbursement, assist providers and patients with billing questions, and ensure timely claim processing.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. This onsite position offers exposure to healthcare reimbursement and revenue cycle management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Previous office experience with strong customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing patient accounts and claims to verify coding, pricing, and billing accuracy.
• Following up with insurance providers to secure payment for services rendered.
• Researching and resolving denied claims through payer portals, phone, email, fax, corrected claims, and appeals.
• Preparing and submitting supporting documentation to maximize reimbursement opportunities.
• Serving as a resource for providers, patients, and insurance representatives by answering billing-related questions.
• Applying knowledge of contract-specific billing and payment requirements.
• Identifying and resolving collection issues while maintaining a positive customer experience.
• Processing account adjustments and refund requests as needed.
• Preparing, organizing, and mailing hard-copy claims.
• Following established claim follow-up procedures to ensure timely resolution.
• Utilizing billing software and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel, to manage daily workflows efficiently.
