Job summary

Cooper Green Mercy Health Services seeks an Authorization Specialist to support scheduling operations across multiple clinics at Cooper Green. You will handle referrals, verify insurances, obtain precertifications, and liaise with providers and patients, delivering outstanding customer service.

Under minimal supervision, you will use NextGen to update demographics, schedule referrals, and ensure accurate EMR data.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework may substitute.
• One year of experience in a medical practice setting.
• Strong telephone courtesy and customer service; English grammar and punctuation.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient demographics and insurance in NextGen.
• Schedule referrals internally and externally.
• Verify referral information is complete.
• Obtain precertification through private insurance.
• Notify patients about copayments for outside services.
• Verify patient enrollment at Cooper Green.
• Verify insurance benefits.
• Answer phones and route messages promptly.
• Schedule appointments accurately.
• Assist with reporting as needed.
• Obtain date/time for outside referrals.
• Ensure EMR data accuracy.
• Other duties as assigned.
