Responsibilities

Under the direction of physicians and clinical staff, the Health Care Assistant supports the assigned unit by providing technical patient care services and support related to patients on the nursing floor. Additionally, the role involves assisting staff, physicians, and visitors with routine patient care activities and clerical support.

1. Patient Care activities include vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, and transfer of patients.
2. Clerical support includes directing incoming calls, responding to patient calls, entering patient charges into the computer system, maintaining patient charts and unit files, managing secretarial supply levels, and ensuring a safe and orderly environment.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

• Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• BLS certification required by the conclusion of orientation.
• Previous patient care and/or clerical experience with a successful work history is required.
• Familiarity with healthcare environments and procedures is preferred.
