Valley Health System is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Interpreter to provide American Sign Language interpretation for all medical communications between the care team and patients, families, and visitors. This role supports clear, accurate information exchange to ensure safe, high-quality care within a culturally responsive environment.

Preferred candidates hold NIC credentials and have at least three years of ASL interpretation experience, with the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from RID, required.
• Medical workshops or CCHI certification preferred.
• At least three years’ experience in facilitating American Sign Language.

Responsabilités

• Provide ASL interpretation for patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Interpret accurately during medical appointments, emergency visits, inpatient care, surgeries, and other hospital encounters.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and interpreting standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and staff to support patient communication.
• Coordinate contracted ASL interpreter scheduling.
