Provides Accurate Interpretation: Facilitates clear communication between patients, families, and staff in-person, over video or telephone, using appropriate communication methods for developmental age and mental condition.
Demonstrates cultural awareness and provides unbiased and accurate interpretation, following role boundary guidelines.
Follows Intermountain policies, and adheres to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Title III of the ADA, Section 1557 of the ACA, the National Code of Ethics for Healthcare Interpreters published by the National Council of Interpreting in Healthcare and the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
Manages time efficiently, responds promptly to interpretation requests, and communicates with various teams to ensure timely service. Keeps accurate records of interpretation encounters.
Uses computers, software, and internet tools for documentation, data entry, and communication purposes.
Assists in identifying, training and onboarding Qualified Bilingual Staff (QBS), interpreters, and interns. May facilitate bilingual fluency assessments.
Troubleshoots communication barriers for individuals with limited English proficiency or who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and provides educational resources to staff on compliance with language assistance policies. Coordinates interpretation assignments with suppliers as needed.
Acts as a liaison between Language Services leadership and assigned units, ensuring effective communication, resource needs, and seamless service delivery.
