R1 RCM Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist to advance applied AI in healthcare by developing novel machine learning approaches and bringing research into production.

You will design experiments on large-scale healthcare data, evaluate cutting-edge models, and work with engineering and product teams to deliver measurable impact. The role offers startup-level ownership with enterprise-scale impact, and requires deep ML research experience and hands-on familiarity with production systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, Machine Learning, AI, or related field.
• 3+ years of industry research experience (postdoc may count).
• Experience developing ML models and architectures with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

Responsabilités

• Conduct applied research in explainable AI, reinforcement learning, RAG, and long-context information retrieval.
• Design, train, and evaluate novel ML models on large healthcare datasets and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with ML Eng, ML Ops, and Product teams to productionize research.
• Build end-to-end research prototypes, experimentation frameworks, and validation methodologies.
