Job summary

Sanford Health seeks an Actuarial Intern to support health insurance analyses, pricing, reserving, and forecasting under guidance of senior actuaries.

You'll compile data, update models, prepare exhibits, and present insights to partners across Finance, Underwriting and Product. Strong Excel skills and exposure to SQL/SAS/Python are preferred; candidate currently pursuing actuarial studies and credentials.

Qualifications

• Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis required.
• Exposure to data, programming, visualization, or analytical tools such as SQL, SAS, Python, VBA, Power BI, or similar tools is preferred.
• Interest in the actuarial profession required.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, economics, finance, computer science, or another quantitative field required.
• Currently pursuing an actuarial credential through the Society of Actuaries.
• Completion of at least one actuarial examination is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in actuarial analyses involving pricing, reserving, forecasting, and data validation.
• Compile, reconcile, validate, and analyze health plan data and reports.
• Develop and maintain actuarial models, dashboards, and rating tools under supervision.
• Prepare clear exhibits and presentations communicating findings to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Collaborate with Finance, Underwriting, Product, Sales, Network, and Operations to answer business questions.
