Job summary

Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health is seeking an Actuarial Analyst Intern who will support the development of actuarial studies and analyses while learning health insurance basics. The program offers hands-on experience with data manipulation and reporting under supervision.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a related Bachelor's degree, proficient in Excel, with interest in data visualization and actuarial principles.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
• Entry Level - no prior experience required.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with data visualization preferred.
• Possesses and applies knowledge of actuarial principles, concepts, practices and processes within multiple fields or disciplines.
• Ability to complete complex assignments and ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Complete meaningful assignments with strong direction and support from their supervisor and coworkers.
• Follow standard procedures, processes, and documentation.
• Work under a supervisor to complete reports and analyze data.
• Learn the basics of data pulling using different Data Manipulation Programs (SAS, SQL Developer, etc.).
• Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Strong ability to recognize and automate repetitive tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in fast paced environment.
• Manage own time and resources across many projects, focusing on quality, time, scope, usefulness, and appropriateness of work.
• Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner.
• Other Duties as Assigned.
