Job summary

Colonial Group is seeking an Accounting & Finance Intern to support the Accounting Department with reconciliations, monthly close activities, and financial analysis under supervision.

This internship provides structured training, professional development, and exposure to core financial operations across ambulatory surgery center facilities, reporting to the Senior Accountant or Manager – Facility Accounting.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as junior, senior or graduate student in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Foundational knowledge of accounting principles (through coursework).
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (vlookups, xlookups, sumifs, pivot tables).
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Interest in healthcare finance and understanding business drivers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of journal entries under staff guidance.
• Perform reconciliations for cash, prepaid assets, and fixed assets.
• Support monthly expense review and basic variance explanations.
• Contribute to P&L and budget-to-actual analysis.
• Assist in preparing financial reporting packages.
• Participate in documentation of policies, procedures, and process improvement projects.
• Support other departments on finance-related requests as assigned.
• Engage in training, mentorship, and professional development activities.
• Ad hoc/impromptu projects.
