Job summary

The University of Miami is seeking an Accounting Analyst for UHealth Accounting to support department-specific close activities and financial reporting. You will prepare journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and analyses to aid strategic decision making and ensure accuracy across the general ledger.

You will work with cross-functional teams to obtain supporting information, review variances, and assist in preparing reports for management and external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Healthcare, academic medical center, or not-for-profit environments a plus.
• Experience with month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit assigned journal entries, accruals, and month-end accounting deliverables accurately and by established deadlines.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations for assigned accounts, departments, projects, or worktags and assist with follow-up on reconciling items as needed.
• Prepare monthly variance analyses for assigned accounts and assist in researching and explaining significant fluctuations.
• Support monthly and fiscal year-end close activities, including schedules and audit requests.
• Maintain organized working files and provide clear support for journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and requests.
