Job summary

The YMCA of Delaware is seeking an Associate Director of Health & Wellness (Physical) at the Central YMCA Family Location in Wilmington, DE. This leadership role oversees program areas, staffing, budgets, and revenue goals while promoting YMCA values and quality, member-focused programs.

You will hire and coach staff, ensure safe operations, and drive community health outcomes through engaging health & fitness initiatives and staff development.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification from an approved provider (ASHI or Ellis & Associates).
• Minimum of three years of experience as a personal trainer or certified group exercise instructor.
• NCCA-accredited personal training certification or nationally recognized group exercise certifications.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, coach, support, and motivate assigned staff teams.
• Oversee daily operations of assigned program areas, including scheduling, staffing, and coverage.
• Support the Physical Director in achieving departmental goals, monitoring performance, and daily tasks.
• Lead teams to meet or exceed revenue, participation, and service goals.
• Assist with managing expenses and assigned budget areas.
• Communicate and implement operational policies and ensure staff compliance.
• Ensure high-quality, member-focused programs through evaluation and staff development.
• Identify training needs and provide ongoing coaching and development.
• Respond to member and staff feedback promptly and professionally.
• Attend required trainings and meetings.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
