Job summary

Regions Hospital in Minnesota is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to support the General Med Surgery unit. You will be the first contact for patients and visitors, coordinate clerical tasks, manage records, and assist in nursing station operations.

This role is a 0.6 FTE (28 hours/week) on 12-hour day shifts with every third weekend. Training on the electronic health record will be provided to ensure effective care partnerships.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year clerical or healthcare experience or recent (within 1 year) graduate of a clerical/healthcare training program
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to respond patiently and effectively to questions asked by patients, family, providers and staff
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors and coworkers
• Proficient computer skills
• Ability to use office equipment
• Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
• Attention to detail to maintain high-quality outcomes

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service to patients and visitors
• Support nursing staff and coordinate clerical duties on the unit
• Maintain patient records and unit supplies
• Enter data into the electronic health system
