Job summary

Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK is seeking a part-time Health Unit Coordinator for the Prep and Recovery department. The 0.5 FTE role runs 2 PM–6 PM, Monday–Friday, supporting patient flow and coordinating unit activities while providing technical support with equipment and supplies.

Under supervision you will cross-train within the division and collaborate with teams. Required: Medical Terminology coursework within 90 days; preferred: HUC training, CHUC, and 6 months

Qualifications

  • Completion of Medical Terminology course within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Pharmacology coursework.
  • Preferred: Health Unit Coordinator training.
  • Preferred: Certified Health Unit Coordinator - National Association of Health Unit Coordinators.
  • Preferred: 6 months experience in health care activities or institutional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate unit activities and flow of information between teams and other entities.
  • Move patients through the work area and ensure smooth patient care flow.
  • Maintain equipment, order supplies and stock all areas requiring equipment.
  • Cross-train within the division to support needs of other units.

Description
We are hiring for a Health Unit Coordinator position in the Prep and Recovery department at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK!
Position is part time, 0.5 FTE, Day shift, Monday-Friday, 2PM - 6PM, 20 hours per week.

Under supervision this position is a key multi-skilled position within the units. Collaborates with team members to coordinate unit activities and flow of information between teams and other entities. Coordinates and facilitates movement of patients through work area. Provides technical support to the department by maintaining equipment, ordering supplies and stocking all areas that require equipment. Maintains a safe, hazard free and clean environment which facilitates quality patient focused care. Cross trains within the division to support needs of other units within division.

Required Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training Completion of a Medical Terminology course within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Coursework/Training Pharmacology.

  • Coursework/Training Satisfactory completion of Health Unit Coordinator training.

  • Upon hire: Certified Health Unit Coordinator - National Association of Health Unit Coordinators

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
