Job summary

Beloit Health System is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Medical Surgical Unit at Beloit Memorial Hospital. This role supports nursing staff, handles clerical duties, and ensures smooth communication for patients and families.

The Health Unit Coordinator will monitor inpatient EMR for orders, notify physicians and departments of patient needs, and maintain patient charts. Strong communication and calmness under pressure are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Typing 20 wpm and basic computer skills required.
• Completion of basic EKG course or score 85% on EKG exam within six months of hire.
• Ability to work independently and respond calmly to emergencies.
• Excellent communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct calls from patients, family, physicians and departments.
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and notify RNs of changes.
• Take and record vital signs accurately and timely.
• Maintain competency in the computer system.
• Relay messages accurately and timely to providers and staff.
• Initiate and maintain patient charts and manage paperwork.
• Provide receptionist duties and order supplies as needed.
