Job summary

Essentia Health in Duluth, MN is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to manage non-nursing functions on the assigned unit and support patient care workflow.

You will perform clerical and reception duties, handle supply requisitions, assist with scheduling, and may observe telemetry when indicated, notifying caregivers of changes as needed. Position is 0.6 FTE with Day/Eve rotation and weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Completion of a health unit coordinator program or medical secretary program
• If no formal education we will require 1 year experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.
• No Certification or Licensure required

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, and implements non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow and provide patient care support.
• Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling.
• May be assigned to observe telemetry monitor when indicated and notify patient’s caregiver of changes.
• Other duties as assigned
