Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Cardiac Pediatric Critical Care Unit. The role supports front-desk and patient care activities, coordinating with clinical teams to ensure timely admissions, discharges, and smooth bed transitions.

The schedule includes two 12-hour day shifts weekly with weekend/holiday rotation. New hire orientation sessions are required during the first week, with several days of scheduled orientation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; healthcare clerical training or experience preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with medical terminology a plus

Responsibilities

• Communication & Customer Service: Welcome patients and visitors, manage secure unit access, answer calls, and relay information while maintaining confidentiality
• Patient Care Support: Maintain patient records, process admissions/discharges, coordinate with clinical staff, assist families with information
• Patient Flow Coordination: Collaborate with nursing and support departments to manage bed availability and room readiness
• Clerical Operations: Data entry, filing, supply management, equipment upkeep, and general office tasks

We prefer participation in all the sessions, but at minimum, the **Thursday session is mandatory.** **Unit Description**The Cardiac Pediatric Critical Care Unit is a 24-bed intensive care unit.
