UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines is seeking a Health Unit Assistant to provide essential administrative support on Orthopedic 3-West. The role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Shift is 6:30am-7:00pm with every 3rd weekend and rotating holidays, totaling 36 hours per week. This role supports patient flow, records in the EHR, and coordination with nursing and admitting staff; a High School diploma and at least 1 year

The Health Unit Assistant (HUA) provides essential administrative and clerical support to ensure smooth operations within a healthcare unit. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The HUA serves as a central point of contact for staff, patients, families, and other departments, assisting with administrative functions, patient flow, and assisting with unit activities.

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: 1 year of previous clerical, customer service or other experience in healthcare setting required.
