Duties
This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be June 30, 2025 and applicants will be referred on an 'as needed' basis. NOTE: This posting will remain open until no longer needed but no later than September 12, 2025. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies.
Duties To Include But Not Limited To
- Answering and directing phone calls.
- Using a computer to perform administrative duties.
- Performing simple treatment procedures such as changing sterile dressings and applying slings or bandages.
- Using techniques to appropriately de-escalate disruptive patients.
- Performs 12-Lead ECG as ordered by clinician providing results to clinician and ensures results are downloaded to electronic health record.
- Reports/documents post void residuals using bladder ultrasound technology.
- Observing patients and reporting changes in condition (deviation in color, pulse, respiration, temperature, and blood pressure).
- Interviewing patients to document complaint, medical history, and personnel information.
- Screens patients by obtaining vital signs, complaints, and by observing the patient's condition, behavior, attitude, and records appropriately
- Obtaining vital signs when needed to include blood pressures, pulse rate, pulse ox level, respiration, temperature, and pain.
- Perform point of care testing when needed.
- Assists with clinic flow to ensure smooth flow of patients through clinics.
- Sets up for a multitude of procedures and treatments performed by RN, MD
- And other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 4:30 pm (Compressed 9 hour tour)

Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion. It may involve walking, frequent bending, reaching and stretching to set up and take apart equipment; lifting and positioning patients; and carrying, pushing, or pulling moderately heavy objects. Duties may require above average dexterity. The employee defends self and others from the physical attack of patients and maintains PMDB certification as determined by facility policy.

Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for Health Aid and Technician Series 0640:Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled.

Specialized Experience (GS-06): You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes: Using a computer (and other office equipment) to perform administrative duties; observing patients and reporting changes in condition (deviation in color, pulse, respiration, temperature, and blood pressure); documenting medical and clinic records appropriately; screening patients (taking and recording vital signs); setting up patient examination rooms while adhering to infection control procedures; collecting, labeling, and packaging specimens such as blood and urine; performing electrocardiograms (EKGs); and/or performing blood glucose testing

Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-06 level. Six (6) months of graduate education in an accredited institution with a major in a field directly related to the duties of this position.
OR,
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-06 level. Equivalent combinations of specialized experience and graduate education which qualifies you to perform the duties of this position.
Preferred Experience: Specialty Clinic Experience
To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-06. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
