Job summary

The Wilmington VA Medical Center is actively recruiting for a Health Technician to join Patient Care Services. The selected candidate must meet all requirements by the closing date 2026-09-28, and will perform phlebotomy, specimen labeling, and related lab support duties.

Preferred candidates have 3–5 years in Emergency Department or phlebotomy, BLS, and experience assisting with medical procedures. This role emphasizes teamwork and adherence to aseptic technique in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04, including phlebotomy and aseptic technique.
• Education may substitute experience; a full 4-year bachelor's degree meets GS-5 requirements.
• Combination: education beyond the first 60 semester hours plus relevant experience counts toward qualification.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and assist with patient care in a hospital setting.
• Label specimens, transport them to the laboratory, and ensure proper handling.
• Participate in teamwork and unit operations within Patient Care Services.
