Located in east San Diego County, the district is 66.3 square miles in size, serving elementary students in grades K-8 feeding into the Grossmont Union High School District. The district has approximately 16,600 students, plus about 800 preschool students, across 26 schools (6 middle schools, 19 elementary schools, and 1 preschool). The district is largely urban with some rural areas.
