Job summary

Na Alii is seeking a Health and Safety Officer to support company-wide Health and Safety initiatives across multiple sites, including Honolulu. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and Workers' Compensation support.

The candidate will develop site-specific health & safety plans and train staff, with emphasis on OSHA, USACE EM 385-1-1, and EPA standards. Travel up to 25% and strong writing skills are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, or related field preferred.
• ASP, CHST, CSP, or CIH certification preferred.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification current or ability to obtain.
• OSHA 30-hour General Industry or Construction within last 5 years.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to hold and maintain First Aid, CPR, AED certification.
• 5-8 years of experience in health & safety operations in construction/env remediation.
• Experience with USACE projects preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (lift up to 30 lbs, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and hazard identifications for project activities.
• Conduct safety audits, provide on-site recommendations, publish reports and follow up on discrepancies.
• Oversee hazardous material handling, sampling, remediation, and disposal activities.
• Assist in development and revision of corporate safety policies and programs.
• Conduct or coordinate Health & Safety training for employees.
• Support OSHA reporting and incident investigation requirements.
• Document daily field activities, inspections, and incidents.
• Maintain safety equipment inventory and certifications.
• Prepare technical reports and Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
• Apply OSHA, USACE EM 385-1-1, and EPA standards.
• Stop work for unsafe acts and participate in drills and emergency responses.
• Interface with project managers, subcontractors, and client representatives.
