Job summary

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to support large-scale data center construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction safety, contractor oversight, and project delivery, fostering a proactive safety culture.

Responsibilities include oversight of field activities, contract and budget management, detailed planning, safety audits, risk management, and collaboration with design, construction teams, and client stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a field related to construction.
  • CCM certification preferred.
  • OSHA 30; OSHA 500/510; BCSP-qualified credentials (OHST, ASP, CSP, or CHST); CPR certification preferred.
  • Proven experience implementing and monitoring project HSE plans and contractor site safety programs on active construction projects.
  • Excellent time management and ability to coordinate across stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to internal teams and stakeholders, including oversight of field construction activities and progress reporting.
  • Own and manage contracts and budgets for direct contracts as assigned, ensuring alignment with cost budgets.
  • Develop and coordinate detailed project plans, including scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting regular site inspections and audits.
  • Identify and address quality, safety, health, and environmental issues.
  • Proactively manage risks related to construction execution, site logistics, and HSE performance, coordinating GC actions on risk as necessary.
  • Support the design and preconstruction process by reviewing drawings for constructability, safety considerations, and project requirements.
  • Create and coordinate monthly, daily, and event reporting for the construction team, in collaboration with the Construction Field Representative.
  • Issue effective meeting minutes and other documentation for site progress meetings, Owner/Architect/Contractor meetings, and other required meetings.
  • Coordinate and support the RFI and submittal process, working with the cost controller to ensure alignment with cost budgets.
  • Assist the client PM in coordinating the construction effort to support effective safety, QA/QC, commissioning readiness, and labor relations programs that meet project objectives.
  • Help establish the success criteria for the project, including safety, schedule, cost, technical, and quality performance parameters.
  • Support the development and execution of contractors and overall purchasing strategy in concert with the client.
  • Act as project schedule owner or support the project scheduler, maintaining the schedule to track critical actions and milestones.
  • Conduct kick-off and regular meetings with key project stakeholders to track and report on progress.
  • Work with other project function teams to review as-built documents and other closeout items.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including subcontractors and vendors.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including reports, permits, and compliance records.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or related field
CCM certification preferred
OSHA 30; OSHA 500/510; BCSP credentials (OHST, ASP, CSP, CHST) preferred
CPR certification

  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience.
  • CCM certification preferred.
  • The following certifications are preferred: OSHA 30; OSHA 500/510; BCSP-qualified credentials (OHST, ASP, CSP, or CHST); and CPR certification.
  • Proven experience implementing and monitoring project HSE plans and contractor site safety programs on active construction projects.
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, mission critical, or data center construction projects preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure projects are managed to the required quality standards and delivered efficiently and on schedule.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain working relationships with clients and cross-functional project teams.
  • Ensure key information and data are effectively communicated, documented, and retained.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
