Ourvita is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to lead and enhance HSE programs across our manufacturing operations in the United States. This role focuses on risk assessments, regulatory compliance, training delivery, and continuous improvement of safety and environmental practices.

The ideal candidate will have a 4-year degree in a relevant field and 3–5 years of HSE experience, with OSHA/EPA knowledge and professional certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE), manufacturing, industrial, GMP, or related environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations; risk assessments, incident investigations, inspections, and compliance activities preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and training facilitation skills, with the ability to influence employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture by partnering with leaders, employees, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
  • Administer, implement, and continuously improve HSE programs, policies, procedures, training initiatives, and operational controls to support regulatory compliance and business objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, inspections, audits, and incident investigations; identify root causes, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and monitor completion and effectiveness.
  • Analyze HSE performance metrics and compliance data, prepare reports and trends analyses, and maintain required records, permits, training documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate employee and contractor training programs, safety communications, Safety Committee activities, and employee engagement initiatives to strengthen HSE awareness and participation.
  • Lead HSE New Hire Orientation programs for employees and contractors, ensuring understanding of site-specific hazards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives, including waste management programs, permit administration, resource conservation efforts, and environmental reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource on HSE regulations, industry best practices, and risk mitigation strategies, providing guidance and recommendations to employees, supervisors, and leadership teams.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response programs by maintaining critical safety equipment, coordinating drills and exercises, and acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies, contractors, and emergency response organizations.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and special projects that enhance HSE performance, strengthen compliance, reduce risk, and drive operational excellence across the organization.
  • Participate in regulatory inspections and audits, prepare required documentation, and support the resolution of compliance findings and corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workplace safety, environmental performance, and sustainability outcomes through data analysis, employee engagement, and proactive risk management.

The Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist leads the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of HSE programs, including industrial hygiene, hazard communication, lockout/tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work, ergonomics, and waste management. This role conducts risk assessments, incident investigations, root cause analyses, hazard identification activities, inspections, and audits to ensure regulatory compliance and support an effective HSE management system. The Specialist serves as a subject matter resource to employees and leaders, develops and delivers HSE training, drives corrective and preventive actions, analyzes safety performance trends, and promotes a proactive safety culture focused on risk reduction, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational, project management, and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate compliance records in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced capabilities in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with HSE management systems and reporting tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and lead HSE initiatives while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, EcoVadis, or other HSE management systems, audit frameworks, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Proven ability to build strong working relationships, influence positive safety behaviors, and lead cross-functional initiatives that enhance HSE performance and organizational compliance.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, compliance audits, and root cause analyses, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Commitment to fostering a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, training, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
