Job summary

The ideal candidate has 0–3 years of EHS leadership in manufacturing; a Bachelor's degree in Safety or Health Sciences is preferred; bilingual in Spanish is a plus; your travel may be up to 10% as needs arise.

Qualifications

  • 0–3 years of experience in EHS within manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or Health Sciences preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations for manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Familiarity with EHS software such as Alchemy, VelocityEHS, SDS Online.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing health and safety policies, procedures, and programs for operations.
  • Foster proactive safety by promoting continuous improvement and preventive measures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards in manufacturing areas.
  • Provide guidance to employees and management on safety matters and risk mitigation.
  • Participate in incident investigations and identify root causes for corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing and delivering health and safety training for employees.
  • Drive behavior-based safety programs through engagement and observation.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and safety technologies to enhance programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of VPP concepts and apply relevant principles.

Job description

EHS Specialist

Our well-established client is looking for an EHS Specialist in their manufacturing facility. This leadership role will collaborate with all levels of the facility to drive the EHS programs, continuous improvement initiatives and champion a proactive safety culture. The ideal candidate would have 3 plus years of EHS leadership in a manufacturing environment. If you're a leader with strong communication skills and someone who enjoys a boots on the ground approach while making an impact on the facilities overall EHS performance, then let's connect! The position will also provide EHS support to other company facilities as business needs arise, with occasional travel approximately 10%.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs specific to operations, in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Foster a culture of proactive safety by promoting continuous improvement, identifying areas for enhancement, and implementing proactive measures to prevent incidents.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify potential hazards related to manufacturing processes, machinery, and materials.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees and management on health and safety-related matters, addressing specific hazards and risks.
  • Participate in incident investigations and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of health and safety training programs for employees, focusing on hazards and safe practices.
  • Drive the behavior-based safety program, promoting a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating safety risks through employee engagement and observation.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and advancements in safety technologies to enhance the proactive safety efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and utilize relevant principles and strategies to enhance the safety program.
Salary

$75,000 - $90,000

Personal Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience working in the Environmental, Health and Safety field with a degree preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or Health Sciences, or related discipline preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees and management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, enabling effective communication with Spanish speaking employees and stakeholders preferred.
  • Familiarity with EHS software programs such as Alchemy, VelocityEHS, SDS Online, etc.
  • Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs, such as SafeStart, and experience in driving such programs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) and experience in implementing VPP principles is an asset.
