Job summary

Fives Landis Corp is hiring a Health & Safety, Environmental Engineer (HSE) to join our team in Hagerstown, Maryland. The role focuses on OSHA/EPA/ISO compliance, incident investigations, and HSE program optimization.

You will lead regulatory assessments, conduct audits, and develop training programs to strengthen safety and environmental practices across the facility. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is required for this permanent, on-site position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field.
• Experience conducting incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Experience implementing corrective and preventive actions and managing ISO 19001 and ISO 14001 programs and audits.
• Strong record-keeping and verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other regulations by evaluating processes, permits, and records.
• Lead investigations of incidents, injuries, and workers’ compensation using RCA and data analysis.
• Analyze safety and environmental data to identify trends and improve program effectiveness.
• Manage HSE documentation, training records, reports, and ISO system documentation.
• Plan and support regulatory assessments, audits, and timely closure of corrective actions.
• Design and deliver OSHA and site-specific safety and environmental training programs.
• Provide guidance to leadership and conduct safety/environmental walks to strengthen culture.

We are currently seeking a Health & Safety, Environmental Engineer (HSE) who has the same desire to prove thatindustry can do it!

Pay Range: $68,000 – $85,000 (rate offered will be commensurate with experience)

At Fives we all have a part to play in achieving our common purpose. Your role will be to:

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other federal, state, and local HSE regulations by evaluating manufacturing processes, procedures, permits, and records.
• Lead incident, injury, and workers’ compensation investigations using root cause analysis, data analysis, and structured problem‑solving methods to implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Analyze operational, safety, and environmental data to identify trends, assess risks, and measure HSE program effectiveness and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Manage HSE documentation control, including policies, procedures, training records, safety reports, environmental reports, regulatory filings, customer compliance portals, and ISO system documentation.
• Plan, conduct, and support regulatory assessments, internal audits, environmental inspections, and ISO audits, ensuring accurate records and timely closure of corrective actions.
• Design, deliver, and maintain OSHA‑mandated and site‑specific safety and environmental training programs, including new hire onboarding, refresher training, and specialized instruction.
• Provide technical guidance to leadership and cross‑functional teams, standardize HSE practices across business units, lead safety committees, and conduct safety and environmental walks to strengthen safety culture.

We are seeking someone who has a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field required. Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, performing root‑cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Strong record keeping, verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience with Microsoft, SAP, ACAD, and other relevant software platforms is a plus. If you are a self‑starter and have hands‑on experience managing ISO 19001 and ISO 14001 compliance programs and audits, then we are eager to change the world with you!
