Job summary

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in related safety science field or engineering.
• Two to five years of experience in a safety related discipline, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Identify, analyze and control occupational hazards and promote worksite safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, psychology, physiology, and industrial health, safety and environmental laws.
• Assist in designing protective equipment or safety devices for machines and redesign of machines and plant equipment to eliminate hazards.
• Review proposed safety policies and standards for consistency with engineering principles and practices and recommend changes.
• Participate in moderately complex multi-disciplinary project teams to design and implement EHS related projects.
• Project management includes technical ability for design.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations and industrial processes to determine compliance with standards.
• Provide input into recommendations for process and product safety features to reduce exposure to hazards.
• Install safety devices on machinery or direct installation and investigate accidents to determine root cause and preventative measures.
• Review plans for construction of new machinery and facilities to ensure safety requirements are met.
• Report or review findings from accident investigations, inspections, or environmental testing.
• Identify information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or changes.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
