Job summary

Penn Manor School District is seeking a Health Room Assistant to provide essential health support for students in grades K-12. This role focuses on screenings, first aid, and maintaining confidential health records.

Under the supervision of the school nurse, you will administer medications per physician orders, follow health policies, and communicate with students, staff and parents to maintain a healthy school environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid PA LPN or RN license.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid PA driver’s license or access to transportation.
• Pre-employment requirements as designated by PA School Code.

Responsibilities

Starting Salary/Pay LPN: $21.06/hr
Status: Full-time, 10 months, 180 days
Hours:7 hours per day [35hs/week].

Summary

Penn Manor School District is seeking qualified and compassionateHealth Room Assistant to provide essential health support. This role will primarily focus on assisting in addressing, maintaining, and improving student health in grades K-12.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assist with student health screenings as directed.
2. Administer basic first aid to students as needed.
3. Accompany and provide medical support to students on field trips.
4. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student health information.
5. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding health concerns.
6. Follow all Penn Manor School District health policies and procedures.
7. Work under the direction of the school nurse.
8. Administer medication and/or treatments to children with chronic or acute illnesses according to physician's orders and as assigned by the nurse.
9. Maintain a treatment and medication log.
10. Report suspected cases of child abuse to the school nurse or building principal.

Qualifications

• Valid Practical Nurse (LPN)/Professional Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• Current certification in Basic First Aid and CPR/AED.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Valid PA Driver’s license and /or access to independent transportation
• Pre-employment requirements as designated by the PA School Code

Physical Requirements and Sensory Abilities

• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift/carry supplies up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, twist, and kneel.
• Ability to use hands for grasping and manipulating objects.
• Visual and auditory acuity.
• Potential for exposure to common childhood illnesses.
• This position primarily operates within a professional office setting, which may include district offices, school buildings, hallways, and school grounds.
