This position’s primary focus is to assist the Certified School Nurse in providing every student with the care necessary to achieve and maintain appropriate health and safety standards. An employee in this classification is typically the first medical professional to assess a student’s medical condition, whether being called to an accident on school premises or being sought out independently by the student expressing an ailment.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program
• Experience working with pediatrics and/or adolescents, preferred
• Experience performing data-entry with proficiency

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS

• Current PA License to practice as LPN
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license

WORK-RELATED KNOWLEDGE

• Experience applying professional nursing concepts, techniques, and procedures to the care and treatment of individuals, some who may possess mental or physical injury or illness, dysfunctional behavior or developmental disability.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and adverse effects of pharmacological agents, medical treatments, human anatomy and physiology, and personal hygiene.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment and to observe, interpret, document and report symptoms, vital signs, and reactions/responses to medications and treatments.
