Job summary

The Virginia Department of Health Professions is seeking a Licensing Specialist to support licensure for the Board of Medicine, including Physician Assistant and Occupational Therapy licensure pathways. You will analyze licensing processes, apply regulations, and ensure timely, accurate correspondence while maintaining strong customer service.

Responsibilities include managing eligibility and licensing activities, endorsing pathways, and attending staff advisory meetings as needed.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of Virginia laws and regulations governing medical licensure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Considerable knowledge of office practices, principles and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently organize and prioritize work-flow in a fast-paced, customer service oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independent and as a member of a team, pay close attention to detail, and complete assigned tasks within established time-frames.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly develop a comprehensive knowledge of legal or technical issues, and apply this information in response to customer contacts, via phone or written correspondence.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform quality assurance of processed documents by independently reviewing and organizing documents with extreme accuracy in a Windows-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide licensure support for the Board of Medicine by managing applicant eligibility and licensing activities for Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapist and Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Manage endorsement pathway and other licensure pathways that may be established.
  • Identify and apply regulations necessary to analyze licensing processes and ensure correspondence is prepared and disseminated.
  • Maintain high level of customer service and accurately process licensing applications.
  • Attend staff advisory meetings as necessary.
