Job Summary
The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at UCSF is seeking a Health Professional Educational Specialist 3 to provide extensive administrative and operational support to the Department’s clinical training programs – ACGME – Psychiatry & Law Fellowship Program, medical student education, and residency training programs. Working under general supervision in a dynamic, collaborative and supportive environment, the Educational Specialist would be expected to communicate regularly with residents, fellows, and faculty, maintain confidential files, monitor records of attendance for all required educational activities, performance evaluations, conferences and other didactic experiences, advise on training program administration policies , schedule planning and event coordination, manage appointment and funding for residents and fellows, financial reporting and tracking in support of training and education operations, You’ll orchestrate seamless scheduling, execute efficient event coordination, and spearhead various administrative functions during the rotation season. This position entails overseeing appointment and onboarding medical student education logistics, assisting with interview logistics, scheduling didactics, and ensuring adherence to the protocols and standards governing graduate medical education. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $83,700 - $125,600 (Annual Rate).

Department Description
The UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is among the nation's foremost resources in the field of child, adolescent and adult mental health. Psychiatry faculty members are recognized for their leadership roles in state-of-the-art, comprehensive and compassionate patient care, pioneering research, excellence in training the next generation of leaders, advancing public policy to advance mental health, and commitment to diversity.
DPBS is also one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine (SOM). The Department’s mission is research (basic, translational, clinical), teaching, patient care and public service. The Department has an organizational structure that crosses all major UCSF sites – Parnassus, Mission Bay, Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG), San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SFVAMC), and Laurel Heights. The Department is large and administratively complex with an FY20 annual operating budget of over $171 million, approximately 200 paid faculty (including SFVA faculty), 25 Emeritus and recall faculty, 30 MSP physicians, 110 residents, fellows and postdoctoral scholars, 450 staff, and 225 volunteer faculty. Following a year-long strategic planning effort that was co-sponsored with the leadership of UCSF Health, the Department Chair and Associate Chair are leading a multi-year implementation of Psychiatry’s strategic plan for significant expansion of mental health services within UCSF Health.
