Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo is seeking a Health & Nutrition Specialist to implement and monitor health, safety, and nutrition services for Early Education programs. You will partner with staff, families, and community agencies to improve children’s health outcomes and support CAPSLO’s mission toward self-sufficiency.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant health field and have supervisory or training experience in nutrition or child care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in relevant health disciplines.
• Supervisory/administrative or training experience in health, nutrition, or child care preferred.
• Must maintain pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and nutrition content complies with HSPPS, licensing regs, and USDA programs.
• Monitor health status records for children from birth to five years; keep EPSDT schedule current.
• Enter and manage data in the ChildPlus database; generate reports as needed.
• Conduct site visits to childcare centers to ensure health and safety policy compliance.
• Collaborate with county/state agencies to secure services for families.
• Provide nutrition and health education to children, caregivers, staff, and partners.
• Assist in staff health and safety training and policy development.
• Respond to internal referrals for children with special health conditions and follow up.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Science, Health Administration, Biology, or Nutrition
