Job summary

Network Runners, Inc. seeks a full-time Writer and Author (Print Journalism) to support DHA and WRNMMC Hospital Communications. You will develop and publish stories on clinical innovation, patient care, and staff achievements for print and digital channels.

You will lead feature storytelling from concept to publication, conduct interviews, and collaborate with multimedia teams to produce integrated packages for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English or related field.
• 5+ years of journalism or professional writing with a strong portfolio.
• Experience in healthcare communications, military public affairs, or similar regulated environments.
• Rigorous safeguarding of HIPAA/PHI, especially when interviewing patients.
• Excellent project management: editorial calendars, content strategy, deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage an editorial calendar for print and long-form digital publications.
• Identify and develop newsworthy stories aligned with strategic objectives.
• Conduct thorough interviews with medical staff, patients, and leaders to craft compelling narratives.
• Produce AP-style copy and coordinate multimedia story packages with teams.
• Support media relations, briefings, events, and crisis communication planning.
• Maintain Walter Reed public website, intranet, and social platforms.
