Riverview Regional Medical Center is seeking a Health Information Management Technician I (HIM Tech) to serve as the designated contact for release of patient health information. Responsible for processing requests within HIPAA timelines and ensuring accurate billing and compliant disclosure.

The role requires chart accuracy, collaboration with clinicians, and proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic. Full-time, days, at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL.

Qualifications

• Must maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient information.
• Experience in medical records filing and chart management preferred.
• Familiarity with release of information processes and timelines.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and data entry speeds.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient charts are complete and accurate by confirming reports and orders.
• Collaborate with providers to correct documentation to support care and billing.
• Process medical record requests from patients, attorneys, insurers, and agencies while protecting data.
• Handle complex/legal requests within required timeframes and document actions.
• Audit records for compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and state laws.
• Use Epic to update records and support coding and vital records reporting.
