Job summary

Shasta Regional Medical Center is seeking a Health Information Tech II to support physicians and staff with accurate documentation and chart completion in a high-volume acute care setting.

The role involves identifying deficiencies, notifying responsible staff, and assisting with the suspension process if needed, while handling calls and visitors with confidentiality. Per Diem with variable shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year health information management experience in acute care setting; required.
• Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and/or terminal-digit filing skills.
• Knowledge of terminal digit filing and medical terminology; preferred.
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for medical staff documentation; preferred.
• Computer data entry with 10-key, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm; preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a medical terminology course; preferred.
• Background in business and office training; preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Health Information Tech II assists physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate, and complete documentation practices.
• Analyzes the assembled record for chart completion deficiencies and assigns items to appropriate staff.
• Supports chart completion efforts and may carry out suspension if records are not completed timely.
• Answer telephone calls and assist visitors while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support department needs through assistance in other duties as assigned.
