Job summary

Ultipro in Lafayette, LA is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Clerk to support insurance processing for home medical equipment. The role centers on reviewing explanations of benefits, understanding medical documentation, and resolving requests related to patient records and billing.

You will collaborate with patients, physicians’ offices, and internal teams, perform audits, and handle incoming calls, faxes, and emails while ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Knowledge of Explanation of Benefits from insurance companies.
• Working knowledge of Medicare & Medicaid regulatory billing & compliance.
• Familiarity with CPT/ICD-10 codes, HCFA 1500/UB04 forms, HIPAA and insurance regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand Insurance policies and standard Explanation of Benefits.
• Review and understand medical documentation effectively.
• Review and resolve request for medical records related to Claims processing, audits, and authorized external entities.
• Perform internal audits for quality assurance.
• Manage medical records for insurance, private individuals and/or Government entities for home medical equipment.
• Establish and maintain communication with patients/family, physicians’ offices, and internal teams for patient benefit.
• Perform clerical tasks such as answering calls, faxing and emails.
• Report concerns to Revenue Cycle Manager and Supervisor.
