Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi seeks an experienced health information management professional to supervise and coordinate coding and documentation review. You will validate code assignments, DRG accuracy, and data quality while guiding staff and physicians on proper documentation practices.

You will oversee the coding workflow, monitor denials and appeals, and collaborate with clinical departments to ensure accurate reporting and timely reimbursement in a large teaching hospital setting.

Qualifications

• RHIA/RHIT/CCS credentials with supervisory experience required or equivalent
• Experience in coding and abstracting medical records in hospital setting
• Proven supervisory/administrative capacity in health information management
• Strong understanding of DRG assignment and documentation standards

Responsibilities

• Validate completeness and accuracy of code assignments for inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory records
• Monitor DRG assignment accuracy and data integrity
• Provide education and training to HIM staff and physicians on documentation requirements
• Oversee and evaluate coding staff performance and provide feedback
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate reporting and reimbursement
