To support this exciting growth, East HoustonMedical Center is seeking a polished, detail‑driven Health InformationManagement (HIM) Specialist to support the integrity, organization, andconfidentiality of patient health records in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Positionsummary

The HIMSpecialist plays a key role in the Health Information Management department bycompiling, processing, and maintaining patient health records in a mannerconsistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatoryrequirements. This position supports scanning, indexing, chart analysis, recordretrieval, release‑of‑information preparation, and general HIM workflows toensure records are complete, accurate, and readily available for authorizeduse.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare,scan, index, and file medical documents into the electronic and/or paperrecord accurately and within defined timeframes.
  • Reviewrecords for basic completeness, including signatures, dates, and requiredforms, and flag deficiencies for follow‑up.
  • Compile,process, and maintain patient files in accordance with hospital policies,legal requirements, and professional standards.
