Job summary

Clinch Valley Health is seeking a Director of Health Information Management to lead our HIM team at Clinch Valley Medical Center, Richlands, VA. This 100% onsite role reports to Lifepoint Health and focuses on data accuracy, privacy, and regulatory compliance.

You will develop department goals, manage staffing and budgets, coordinate audits, and ensure HIPAA compliance while supporting clinicians and our community with reliable health information services.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Health Information Management or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree in HIM/Health Admin preferred.
• RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads HIM department with focus on data accuracy and privacy.
• Develops departmental goals aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Plans staffing, hires, orients, evaluates, and conducts training.
• Prepares and monitors budgets; ensures compliant operations.
• Coordinates internal/external audits; maintains HIPAA compliance.

Salary Range:$76,000 - $102,000 annually

How you’ll contribute

The Director of Health Information Management leads a dedicated team as a forward-thinker and champion of data accuracy and privacy to support clinicians, caregivers, patients, and our community. Responsibilities include:

• Develops and implements departmental goals, plan, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
• Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance.
• Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
• Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have an Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or other related field. Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or other related field.

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or other related field is preferred.
• RHIT or RHIA certification is preferred.
• Previous leadership/supervisory experience is preferred.
