Job summary

Venice Family Clinic is a leading provider of comprehensive health care in the Westside of Los Angeles, Inglewood area. The Health Info Coder will code diagnoses and procedures for a multi-specialty group under the Revenue Cycle Director.

Responsibilities include ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, processing outpatient claims, and compliance checks. Travel to other LA County locations may be required; strong knowledge of Epic EMR/EHR is essential.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Coder or Certified Medical Biller.
• Minimum of 2 years of billing and coding experience in an FQHC setting.
• Experience using Epic EMR/EHR and medical records information systems.
• Detailed knowledge of ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Experience as Medical Record Abstractor.
• Knowledge of CMS and local carrier regulations for documenting/billing physician services at a teaching hospital.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology and its application.
• HIPAA knowledge and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to meet CEU requirements for CPC and ongoing education.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Codes diagnoses and procedures for a multi-specialty group.
• Apply ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines per AMA and coding clinic guidance.
• Process outpatient claims to third party payers following billing rules.
• Perform quality control on paper claims and handle tracers and denials.
• Prepare and submit appeals for coding issues.
• Report potential compliance risks and reimbursement opportunities to Revenue Cycle Director.
• Operate computers for data entry (Excel, Word, 3M Coder) and related tasks.
• Support other areas as needed and travel to other locations for face-to-face training.
