Job summary

The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals & Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a Health Facilities Complaint Intake Surveyor to triage and document complaints with clinical judgment and adherence to state and federal regulations.

Based in Des Moines, this role requires statewide travel and offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and retirement options. The position supports the Health Facilities Division and reports to the Acute and Continuing Care Bureau Chief.

Qualifications

• Completion of an educational program in professional Nursing and registration as a nurse or graduation with a Bachelor's degree with human services concentration and 3 years of full-time experience
• Licensure or certification related to health care may be required at time of interview
• Experience in health administration or regulatory surveying is preferred
• Postsecondary coursework may substitute for experience at a rate described in the posting

Responsibilities

• Receive complaints via phone, email, online systems, fax or written correspondence
• Document all allegations clearly and neutrally
• Apply CMS-defined priority levels based on immediacy and severity
• Enter complaint information into tracking systems
• Maintain confidentiality of complainant identity under federal/state requirements
• Ensure HIPAA and CMS confidentiality provisions are followed
