Job description

The Department of Emergency Medicine, Division of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), is recruiting a Health Educator to conduct and/or oversee the teaching of students enrolled in undergraduate courses in EMS. The selected candidate will effectively apply fundamental knowledge of the EMS system. This includes but is not limited to safety, medical, legal, and ethical issues related to the provision of emergency care and the well-being of the Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT).

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach students using a variety of techniques including but not limited to didactic lecture, practical demonstration, monitoring of group activities and evaluations.
  • Collect, review, and assess student work.
  • Find, evaluate, and address deficiencies that may occur in class.
  • Evaluate student performance during the course on a continual basis.
  • Ensure examination procedure compliance with state and national guidelines and regulations.
  • Maintain EMS training center and training program certificates per the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • EMT Certification.
  • Experience teaching EMT courses.
  • D2L Experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Current Paramedic certification.
