Atlanta Legal Aid Society seeks a Staff Attorney for its Health and Disability Rights Unit in Atlanta. You will provide comprehensive representation to individuals with HIV/AIDS, mental illness, disabilities, and related health-law matters, managing housing, benefits, and community integration.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Medical-Legal Partnerships, innovative advocacy, and a hybrid work model, supporting low-income clients and promoting access to essential services.

Qualifications

• Active Georgia Bar admission or eligible to sit for the next Georgia Bar exam.
• Minimum of three years of relevant legal experience.
• Excellent legal writing, analysis, advocacy and work ethic.
• Commitment to public service; experience with poverty law preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a hybrid team.
• Bilingual abilities, especially Spanish, highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal representation to individuals with health needs (HIV/AIDS, disabilities).
• Collaborate with Medical-Legal Partnership and healthcare providers to address social determinants of health.
• Lead client-centered engagements and empower self-help where possible.
• Engage in transactional and systemic advocacy to improve services and access.
• Deliver community education and participate in task forces and committees.
